Intro to Racing
Racing is an exciting way for developing sailors to progress their skills in a fun and competitive environment.
Shoreline Lake’s “Intro to Racing” clinic provides an opportunity to learn the basic principles of sailboat racing and put those skills into practice on the water.
Completing this clinic will provide the knowledge necessary to participate in races hosted by Shoreline and the Fremont Sailing Club.
You will learn:
- Mark rules
- Sailing a race course
- Race starts and signals
- Protesting
Prospective racers are highly recommended to complete Intermediate Sailing and must be able to comfortably single-hand a dinghy in moderate to heavy wind.
Prerequisites
- Completed adult Intermediate Sailing class
- -OR-
- 14+ years of age
- Capable of single-handing in 12+ knots
- Valid rental card
- Summer 2022

Fremont Sailing Club
The 2024 Race season is now upon us. The Fremont Sailing Club will be hosting races at Shoreline Lake throughout the summer. Races start with a Skippers meeting at 10:30am and typically include three or more races per day, depending on lake conditions.
