City of Mountain View Pet Policy
As Shoreline Park is a protected wildlife refuge, NO pets, including dogs, may enter the park, even if they are inside a vehicle. They may not pass beyond the main entry gate, driveways or pathways leading into the park: And, this includes Shoreline Lake and its facilities. Please note that the City of Mountain View – which owns the park – provides a designated dog area outside of the park environs.
Public Transportation
For real-time, Bay Area-wide, and multi-system public transit info, and for help with planning your trip, check out 511.org or its mobile counterpart (m.551.org).
Overall, we suggest taking a taxi or CalTrain to the San Antonio station (For current CalTrain rates on one-way travel and day passes, please refer to the CalTrain Fare Chart and System Zone Map.).
From San Antonio station, walk southwest on Pacchetti Way a few blocks to the bus station on California Street (See Route Map and Fare info for additional details). Catch the Santa Clara VTA Bus 40/La Avenida. The VTA also has a Real-Time info page if you need it.
Disembark at Charleston and Amphitheatre Parkway (The walk to Shoreline Lake from the bus stop is less than a mile.).
Walk south on Amphitheatre Parkway towards the Shoreline Amphitheatre. Pass the soccer field on your left and look for the trail that borders Permanente Creek. Follow this trail through the golf course to the Shoreline Golf Links parking lot, and take the footbridge to your left. After passing the historic Rengstorff House, look for the Boathouse and American Bistro on the edge of Shoreline Lake.
Free Parking
Parking is ample and there are designated spots for trailers and for the unloading of windsurfing equipment.
Launch Fees
There is a daily launch fee of $7 per vessel for anyone using their own equipment on the lake. Fee must be paid at the Boathouse before launching. An annual pass is also available. PFDs are required for all lake users; if you don't have your own PFD you may rent them for $5 each.
The recent construction at Shoreline Lake has been completed. The dock and launch ramp have been reopened and are available for launching.
