We are looking for energetic, responsible, creative, and motivated professionals to teach small boat sailing and windsurfing to our summer youth campers. We are also hiring part-time instructors for sailing, kayaking, and windsurfing, as well as customer service staff for our Boathouse & American Bistro

Sailing & Windsurfing Instructors
The ideal candidate is an experienced sailor/windsurfer, with an instructor certification from US Sailing or Windsurfing Instructors of America.
- Teach sailing and/or windsurfing to adults age 14 and up (weekend courses), campers age 7-16 (summer camp), or in private lessons.
- Weekend Courses: The basic class covers: tacking and jibing, sail trim, nomenclature, knots, and water safety. The intermediate class focuses on skill refinement, capsize recovery, and man overboard drills. The advanced class includes: advanced boat handling, sailing without a rudder, sailing backwards, and an introduction to racing.
- Summer Camp: Level I includes instruction about water safety, board and boat handling basics, rigging/de-rigging, knot typing, tacking and jibing, upward sailing, helmsmanship, docking, and setting a basic sailing course. Level II refines skills learned in Level I, including: faster tacks, pivot jibes, advanced safety skills, upwind sailing, capsize recovery, man overboard drills, and an introduction to racing.
- Instruction includes large-group land-based lessons as well as small-group practice sessions on the water. Shoreline's sailing fleet includes Catalina Capri 14-foot dinghies, Lasers, and RS Zests.
- Keep students safe, motivated, and focused both on and off the water.
- Prepare lesson plans.
- Drive an outboard motorboat to place buoys for racing and recover capsized or grounded vessels.
- Rig and de-rig windsurfing equipment.
- Inspect equipment for damage, make simple repairs, and keep maintenance records for all equipment.
Qualifications:
- Sailors - previous experience racing small boats is highly desirable.
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications.
- US Sailing ASA, or Windsurfing Instructors and Programs Association (WIPA) Instructor Certification preferred. For experienced sailors who have not yet received their US Sailing certification, a mandatory course for all new employees will be offered in the spring.
- Experience with youth camps or athletics is strongly preferred.
Weekends 9am-1pm (basic sailing/windsurfing) and 1:30-5:30pm (intermediate or advanced sailing/windsurfing).
Schedule for Sailing and Windsurfing Summer Camps:8:00am-5:30 pm (times vary by program) Monday-Friday, June 3rd - August 16th. Qualified applicants seeking part time positions should inquire about scheduling specifics.
Kayaking Instructors
- Teach basic and advanced kayaking classes for students age 13 and up.
- Basic kayaking is a three-hour introduction to sit-on-top kayaking, including stroke techniques, launching and landing, nomenclature, self-rescue, water safety, and equipment tuning.
- Advanced kayaking is a three-hour course that teaches self-rescue, ruddering, bracing, edging, and other techniques in enclosed kayaks.
- Keep students safe, motivated, and focused both on and off the water.
- Prepare lesson plans.
- Inspect equipment for damage, make simple repairs, and keep maintenance records for all equipment.
Qualifications:
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Several years of kayaking experience.
- Experience as a kayaking instructor is strongly preferred.
Weekends 9am-12pm (basic kayaking) and 1:30-4:30pm (advanced kayaking). Starting in February, each class is offered up to twice per month.
Camp Shoreline Counselors
We are looking for energetic, creative, and motivated camp counselors to lead children 5-11 years old in a variety of outdoor activities including arts & crafts, nature hikes, environmental/life science programs, and aquatic activities. The ideal candidate is a teacher with experience in watersports, environmental science, or art.
- Camp Shoreline has four main components; one instructor will have primary responsibility over each of the following camp areas: water sports, land sports, arts and crafts, and the environmental/life science program. Additional instructors may be assigned to a specific cohort of campers and remain with that cohort, moving from one activity area to the next throughout the day.
- Supervise students age 5-11 in activities both on and off the water: pedalboating, canoeing, kayaking, sailing, field games, arts & crafts, nature hikes, and historic building tours.
- Prepare lesson plans and art activities.
- Collaborate with the other instructors in developing and designing curriculums.
- Keep students safe, motivated, and focused both on and off the water.
- Maintain records of student enrollment and attendance.
- Inspect equipment for damage, make simple repairs, and keep maintenance records for all equipment.

Boathouse Staff
- Spend the day on the docks!
- Help customers board their rented craft
- Instruct customers in the proper use of their rented craft
- Assist with rescues on the lake when customers need help getting back to the docks
- Rig and de-rig sailing and windsurfing equipment
- Assist instructors with the set-up, take-down, and preparation of classes
- Clean the facility and boats
- Maintain equipment
- Assist in the office, at the cash register, and in the retail shop
Boathouse & American Bistro
American Bistro
Positions include:
- Cooks, prep cooks, food preparers of hot and cold meals
- Espresso Bar operator
- Servers
- Cashiers and order takers
- Bussers, clean-up crew
Snack Bar
Responsibilities:
- Operate a small snack stand that offers ice cream, beverages, candy, and energy bars
- Operate the cash register and account for all monies
- Answer customers’ questions about the Boathouse
- Assist with set-up and take-down of snack bar
- Assist with general clean-up
