Advanced Kayaking
Step into the world of enclosed sea kayaks!
Appropriate for ages 13 and up. The skills learned will prepare you for exploring the open ocean as you will have better control of your kayak and paddling technique.
This class reviews basic strokes and rescues, as well as covers more advanced control techniques such as ruddering, bracing, and edging. In other words, you’ll build your skills and confidence level so that you can move onto rolling.
You’ll learn the following skills:
- • Enclosed Kayak Fundamentals – Entering & Exiting, Wet Exit, Paddle Strokes
- • Basic Knowledge of Tides & Currents
- • Boat Edging, Bracing, Paddle Float Re-Entry, T-Rescue
- • Safety & Responsible Kayaking, and more…
What To Bring
Students should bring comfortable clothes, a bathing suit, a jacket or fleece, a towel and change of clothes, lots of sun protection, a lanyard to secure their glasses around their heads, a bottle of water, and non-skid/non-marking shoes (tennis shoes, dock shoes, or Teva sandals work great).
Important: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your class to check in.
