After-home school Watersports

If your child (age 8-13) cannot take part in organized after-school activities, Shoreline Lake offers "after-home school" programs during the week. Besides keeping cool with dips in the lake, the variety of fun and energy-burning watersports allow kids to learn the fundamental skills for paddlesports and sailing, as well as teamwork and critical thinking, with a bit of friendly competition mixed in.

A great way to replace shuttered team sports programs, these 4-week programs meet two days each week. Kids will receive personalized attention in small COVID-19 compliant groups (dedicated staff, with no mixing allowed between the groups), while going through interactive drills, games and lectures designed to introduce proper technique for full enjoyment of this unique outdoor experience.

Experienced and knowledgeable instructors make these programs the perfect environment for learning the essentials of small boat sailing, stand up paddleboarding, and other engaging watersports. In addition to the cerebral nature of these sports, kids benefit from the opportunity to engage in safe social interaction, and implementing the wealth of knowledge they receive.

What To Bring (Outside of COVID-19 Requirements)

Every day kids should bring a towel, bathing suit and a set of dry, comfortable clothes (They will get WET). In addition, they should also bring a jacket or fleece, lots of sun protection, a bottle of water, and non-skid/non-marking shoes to wear while on the boats (Tennis shoes, aqua socks, or Teva sandals work great!). No flip-flops allowed.

Hats and sunglasses are recommended but not required. If wearing glasses, kids should bring a lanyard to secure glasses around their head. Single-use locker tokens are available – cost $2 and are recommended for securing valuables.

Important: On the first day, please arrive 10-15 minutes before the start time to sign-in

Please Note: Also, parents, no pets, including dogs, may enter the park, even if they are inside a vehicle when dropping off and picking up kids.

After-home school Laser Sailing

Is your kid enthusiastic about sailing and looking to get back on the water for more? Students ages 11-15 can single hand or sail with a partner and learn to control this Olympic class planing hull with simple controls for advanced technique. The laser will treat you to a sailing experience like never before. Fly through the water, spin on a dime and maneuver through obstacles with ease. This camp will take your sailing to the next level through comprehensive drills and hands on feedback. Students will work towards earning their certification through US Sailing.

You’ll learn the following skills:

• • Capsize Self-Rescue & Dry Capsizing

What To Bring

Students should bring comfortable clothes, a jacket or fleece, a towel and change of clothes, lots of sun protection, a lanyard to secure their glasses around their heads, a bottle of water, and shoes that stay on your feet and can get wet. (Personal lifejacket highly recommended.)

Important: Please arrive 10-15 minutes before your class to check in.

Prerequisites: Age 11-16. Participants must be qualified to rent a sailboat in winds up to 10kts or equivalent sailing experience.
