Level III Racing Camp

This advanced sailing racing camp introduces one design dinghy racing, in Capri 14.2’s, to kids/teens (ages 12-16) and covers all the skills needed in preparation for racing at a high school level. As such, all participants must be qualified to rent (i.e., have a rental card).

A five-day camp similar in format to the Level I & II camps (but without the Windsurfing), the Level III camp runs for three hours per day, over a five-day period during the week.

The Race camps cost $350.00 per session, and are currently scheduled from 2:00-5:00 for July 20-24, and Aug 10-14.

With the focus on techniques used in sailboat racing, the camp covers the most common right of way rules, how the starting sequence works, and the basics of strategy vs. tactics around the course.

In addition to comprehensive drills to improve racing skills, during the last three days of the session, a little friendly competition will ensue, in the form of a mini regatta, to test what campers have learned.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of Windsurfing & Sailing Camp Level II (or its equivalent) is required. In addition, campers must be approved by Shoreline's sailing instructors to enroll in Level III, and should be comfortable swimming and treading water.

What To Bring

Students should bring sailing gloves, comfortable clothes, a bathing suit, a jacket or fleece, a towel, lots of sun protection, a lanyard to secure their glasses around their heads, a bottle of water, and non-skid/non-marking shoes to wear while on the boats and boards (they will get WET – tennis shoes, aqua socks, or Teva sandals work great!). No flip-flops allowed.

Please Note: Also, parents, no pets, including dogs, may enter the park, even if they are inside a vehicle when dropping off and picking up campers.
